Substance use

Substances impact our lives on a daily basis - whether we choose to partake in them or not. Exploring your relationship to substances in therapy can help you to gain important insight & make better choices for your own health & wellness. Sobriety isn’t for everyone, but health is.

In working with substance use, we will:

  • Explore the “why” behind your use of substances

  • Connect to the impacts (positive & negative) it has on your mind, body, & spirit

  • Define “normal” use for you (not your friends, family, partner, etc.)

  • Learn coping mechanisms & ways to self-regulate without substances

  • Learn how to set clear boundaries with yourself & others around substance use

  • Learn the signs & signals that your body, mind, and spirit are giving you & how they impact your use

  • Feel more empowered in what you choose to engage in

For folks concerned with substance abuse, we will also:

  • Map when your use turned into abuse in a loving, compassionate way

  • Explore the science behind addiction and the impacts it has on our bodies

  • Build a recovery road map that works for you - you’re unique & your treatment should be too

  • Explore groups, case management options, and recovery programming that aligns with your beliefs

  • Learn how to set clear boundaries with yourself & others around substance use

  • Learn coping mechanisms & self-regulation techniques to support your recovery

ANCESTRAL ADDICTION & SUBSTANCE ABUSE:

In many cases, addiction & substance use have impacted not only our own lives, but the lives of those who came before us. Exploring the impact of addiction & substance use on an ancestral level can deepen your understanding of your lineage, your family members, and yourself.

Breaking the ancestral & familial patterns is rarely easy, but always worth it. Learn how to self-regulate, process emotions, heal ancestral trauma, set healthy boundaries, and release belief systems that are holding you back. This work is infused with love, compassion, and self-care throughout.
